Welcome to Avinash Patil's academic website.
Avinash obtained his PhD in Materials Chemistry with Professor Stephen Mann FRS at the University of Bristol. Following a brief postdoctoral period, Avinash was appointed as a faculty at the School of Chemistry, University of Bristol. To date, he has supervised/co-supervised over 15 PhD and 3 MSc-Research students. He has published over 80 scientific articles (H-index 42, Google Scholar).
Over the years, Avinash's research experience has sparked a strong interest in scientific research at the interface between chemistry and biology, and it is our long-term goal to pioneer new developments in this field that are internationally competitive. He and his research team are keen to explore this area of research because the integration of cross-disciplinary fields will not only enable biological functions to be assimilated into synthetic systems but also offer the potential to develop novel structures, properties and compositions at various length scales, as well as fabrication of miniaturized devices and composites.
Research Interests
Our interdisciplinary research focuses on the development of new “bottom-up” concepts and approaches to the controlled fabrication of functional hybrid materials and composites. The key scientific challenge in this area is to construct smart nano/micro-scale materials with advanced functions and properties that can be isolated/assimilated into numerous applications such as animate materials, biocatalysis and sensing, drug delivery, and nanocomposites. Please explore our site to learn more about our work.
